There’s a reason that the word “Black” is in Black Friday, and it isn’t always about retailers and ledger sheets. Sometimes, the crowds get a little, well, let’s just say a little too excited.
That’s the discussion going on at the Black Friday 2007 forum at Dealtaker.com
Luckily, most people seem to have been able to avoid actual hand to hand combat over a hot item it seems, but a few people have had incidents.

Of course, we all know that the big shopping day is Black Friday 2007, but are there any worthwhile deals actually on Thanksgiving Day?
In the past, some avid shoppers have found deals at places like Meijers, Wal-Mart or K-Mart, but they are usually for smaller items (Deals on sodas, CDs, DVDs, etc). Although almost everyone agrees that the best deals are out there on Black Friday, there are still some deals to be have.
But, for the power shopper, the biggest benefit from doing some shopping on Thanksgiving Day is to do some price comparison. This can help you get a jump on the rest of the crowds an refine your shopping strategy.

The discussion today seems to be centered around where the best online sales for Black Friday 2007 are going to be.
The main concern is, are there going to be enough deals on shipping to make it worth your while. Everyone would love to skip waiting in the horrendous Black Friday lines, but the whole point of waiting in those lines is to get a great deal. If you are charged an arm and a leg for shipping, then you might as well brave the hoards.
Most people seem to agree that, in their memory, stores have had significant discounts (or free!) shipping on most items during Black Friday. Some say they’ve even be able to begin shopping on Thanksgiving Night around 9 or 10 pm.
So, it’s possible that on Black Friday 2007, you may be able to find some of the same deals you’d find at a brick and mortar store online.

There’s a great discussion going on here about Black Friday 2007 and what stores people go to. It seems that the general consensus is that, for the technically-inclined among the group, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. are the top places to go to, but that lining up early is definitely required to get in on the best stuff…
The other main stores people seem interested in are Wal-Mart and Target, although Old Navy had a few mentions too.
I’m interested to see how that thread develops… There’s a lot of strategy involved in preparing for Black Friday!

I found this article about Black Friday 2007 (and discussion thread) and possible of Nintendo Wii’s shortages that may occur during the holiday season.
There’s no doubt that the Wii has won the PR battle among all the next generation gaming consoles. The only negative thing that people have had to say about it has been that they can’t find it!
The Apple iPhone may have jumped to early on it’s release to make it a hot holiday item, but the new iPod Touch models may be their holiday player.
So, that’s my question. Do you think the Wii or the iPod Touch will be the hottest Black Friday 2007 item?
